We have started uploading and adding .kar files to the midi database. KAR files are usually midi files packed with the lyrics. we plan on allowing users to upload .kar files but not at this time.

would allowing a mass of .kar files corrupt the database of .mid files? Should we allow these file types to infiltrate the supreme race of midi's we have around here? We thought it would only make the site better.

if you have an opinion on kar files, and freemidi making them available, please share. we also plan on somehow letting the user know they are downloading a .kar file.

when you login you can now view your requests and midi requests you are subscribed to. soon there will be a way for the requester to mark the midi or comment as marking the midi request completed or fulfilled.

the midi request pages are now known to be working. if you subscribe to get updates of comments or downloads to requests, you should receive emails. 

if you requested an midi, you will not receive notices of new comments or uploads unless you click get notified. now by default when you request a midi you are asked if you want to subscribe to new comments and uploads to your request.

if you request a midi file, should you automatically get email notifications of the request you made? uploads, discussion about the request etc. this would eliminate users needed to "get notified" of a midi they requested.

if you have thoughts, post them.

when you request a midi, we store that info on the request screen, when someone fullfills that request we email you to let you know someone has attempted to upload the midi your requested.

in addition to this, other members of the site can add their 2 cents by adding themselves to the requested songs notify list. what that means is say that user 1 requested a midi file, lets say that user 2 also wants to request that file. Instead of having 2 requests for the same file, 2 users will be associated with that request. 

So when user 3 full fills users 1 and users 2 midi request, user 1 and user 2 will receive an email letting them know someone has uploaded a requested file.

We have now added part of the request feature. When you are requesting a midi file, we try to see if that song already exists, unless you are requesting a better version. There is no way yet for users to fill requested midi yet, but it will be available soon. 

As we get requests, it might trigger other midi's to add to the site. To keep up to date with newly added midi's, check out the new midi http://freemidi.org/new.html. 

In addition to that we plan on adding an rss feed of new midi so that users can keep up with them and if anyone has an idea on how we could do that better, fill free to let us know.

We have some users starting to upload midi, which is great, its what this site is all about. Midi seekers finding new midi or the old hard to find ones.

Some of those being submitted need the correct title and need a band or artist associated with them. If you have the time as a user and notice a user submitted midi file that isnt labled right or in the right place, leave a note in the comment.

one thing that really gets under the skin easy are websites that get on top site lists that are just triangle sites that offer little or no content for the list it is on.

on the site http://www.midielite.com/index.php there is a site listed as "high quality midi files" which links to this site: http://www.highqualitymidifiles.com/

if you do go to the site, you will find it hard to find any midi's. there are plenty of ads and buttons. ads for music equipment. and from our visit, there was maybe 10 midi files. and there are plenty of links to other Top Midi sites.

Also http://freekaraokesongs.net/ which looks exactly like the other two listed above.

Seeing that these triangle circle sites offer little to no midi, its obvious that people will visit these sites, find nothing but links to other midi sites that just so happen to be Top Midi sites.

In tern, when a midi site like these, designed the same with the same layout and little content, of course their users will try to find a site that does offer something. So the user ends up having to vote for the crappy midi site just to find sites listed on the Top site lists.

The bad thing is that this turns into a highly voted site, because there is nothing there.

We have noticed these sites appearing on some top midi sites and we will voice our opinion to the lists.

Freemidi.org will not send traffic to lists that promote junk triangle / circle jerk sites that offer nothing to the user. Only a cheap ploy to display thousands of ads on a junk site.

there were some errors with rating midi. it has been fixed. in the changes and fixes made, the voting/rating of all midi has been reset to null.

audio ads should disapear. they are not welcome.

songs can now be commented on.

bruce midi's added. if you have some to share, add them.

parts of the site might be hard to see. some things change the way they look. its all in progress. community of the midi minds.

users can now upload midi. if you have a song for a category that does not exist, please specify it in the notes.

The form button element on the download pages has to go. It is understood that most people find it easier to right click and save a target as.

The way the downloads work now is that a form button is clicked, this could cause unwanted playing in media player, when all the user wants to do is download the file to their computer.

The button will be turned into a link. When? Soon.

a feature to allow user uploads will require comments and feedback from users. alerting users of bogus files. stand by.
